Ralph Black

Founder & Mentor

I’m Sergeant Ralph Black, a proud Baltimore native and former Baltimore City Schools Police Officer. Growing up in Cherry Hill, I experienced firsthand what it’s like to lack access to the programs and support that help youth thrive. Those early challenges shaped my deep belief in the power of community - and its role in shaping the future of our children.

Throughout my career, connecting with students became more than a job - it became a calling. From walking the halls of local schools to listening to students’ stories, I discovered how mentorship can transform lives. That passion led me to create Help Me Help You Mentoring, a program designed to inspire, guide, and empower the next generation of leaders. My goal is to invest my time, experience, and heart into creating opportunities that set our youth on the path to college, career, and lifelong success.

I’m Carlillian Thompson, Executive Director of HMHU Mentoring, Inc and a retired elementary school principal with over 40 years of service in urban education. Throughout my career, I’ve been devoted to creating equitable learning environments that support not only students but also the families and communities that surround them.

My life’s work has centered on helping children recognize their potential and ensuring they have the tools, encouragement, and mentorship to reach it. At HMHU, I’m proud to continue that mission - building strong relationships, advocating for educational access, and empowering youth to become confident, productive citizens. I believe that when we invest in young minds, we’re shaping a brighter future for all.
